Voting Tips

In Iowa, you can register to vote online by following this link to the Secretary of State’s website and following the instructions. This process is excellent for folks who recently moved and were already registered to vote in Iowa.

The official state of Iowa voter registration form can be downloaded and completed and then dropped off or mailed to our County Auditor’s office at:

Dallas County Auditor
210 N. 10th Street
Adel, IA 50003

This process may take ten business days and is best mailed through your local USPS. This must be done at least 15 days before the next election to ensure proper voter registration at your current address.

Voting early by mail is secure, safe, and smart! You must request your absentee ballot for each election, and absentee ballot requests can be submitted up to 45 days before Election Day.

Request your absentee ballot for the next election by completing the absentee ballot request form and returning it to the county auditor’s office no later than 5:00 p.m., 15 days before Election Day. You can mail your request or hand-deliver it to the office in Adel.

After the 2020 US Census, Iowa went through a redistricting of legislative districts approved for the 2022 election cycle and beyond. This means many folks living in Dallas County may see a change in where they vote, what precinct they reside in, and who represents them or might be on the ballot. Please take a minute to check this information at the link. Take note of your precinct name/number, Iowa House, and Iowa Senate district, as these may have changed since the last election.
